Marcus Rashford set for crunch talks with Man Utd over shoulder injury

Rashford

Manchester United are set for crunch talks with Marcus Rashford about how best to deal with his shoulder injury ahead of the upcoming season.

The United star has been struggling with a muscle tear in a shoulder since November last year, playing through pain for both the Red Devils and England.

An operation on his left shoulder has looked likely, but his club are keen to avoid it if possible as surgery would rule the England international out until October, missing the first couple of months of the Premier League campaign.

United had hoped that a holiday after England’s European Championships exploits, which saw Rashford take three weeks off with Jadon Sancho, would be enough rest for the injury to ease.

That could still be the case, but the Daily Mail claim that Rashford feels surgery is the most appropriate thing needed to fix the problem.

A scan stated that the tear is unlikely to become any more severe, but he was playing with painkilling injections last campaign, so it is not ideal.

However, A decision could be made today when Rashford meets with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, five days before he was due to return for pre-season training on Sunday.

Solskjaer said of his situation this month: ‘We’re looking at the best options. He went away just to reflect on it a bit. We have to take the best course of action for him and the club. We’re still addressing that with the experts.’

The Premier League gaints continue their pre-season preparations with a game against Brentford on Wednesday, then face Preston and Everton before starting their Premier League season against Leeds on 14 August.
