Early last season, the Brazilian winger was considered untouchable at Madrid, having played a key role in the club’s haul of 13 trophies since his arrival.
However, as the 2024/25 season progressed, Rodrygo saw his involvement dwindle under Carlo Ancelotti, overshadowed by the likes of Mbappé, Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr.
Reports surfaced suggesting club officials were unhappy with Rodrygo’s training attitude, fuelling speculation about a potential exit during the summer window.

Interest from the Premier League was swift, with Arsenal reportedly making initial contact regarding a move for the 24-year-old in May.
His limited role during the Club World Cup—playing just 92 minutes in total—further intensified rumours that his future at Madrid was in jeopardy.
Although Arsenal eventually moved on to other targets like Gyokeres, Eze, and Madueke, English clubs including Liverpool and Spurs continued to monitor the situation.
But according to AS, Rodrygo has now fully committed to staying, hoping to win Alonso’s confidence and secure his place in the manager’s revamped system.
The outlet reports that there are currently no signs of an imminent departure, nor have any serious offers come in to tempt Real Madrid into parting ways.
Rodrygo is expected back at the club’s Valdebebas training ground today, refreshed and determined to make a comeback ahead of the new season.
Despite earlier whispers about a possible transfer, Madrid have never actively tried to push Rodrygo out and would only entertain bids exceeding €90 million (£78m).
The forward is under contract with the Spanish giants until June 2028.
‘Holidays completed. Clear mind and many missions ahead’, Rodrygo posted on Instagram, signaling his readiness for the challenges ahead.
Xabi Alonso also played down exit talk before Madrid’s Club World Cup clash with Al-Hilal, stating that Rodrygo was enthusiastic and eager to contribute.
‘I know what happened last season. The end of the campaign wasn’t easy for him,’ the new Madrid head coach told reporters in Miami.
‘He took some time to reset. We’ve talked since day one, and I see him eager to contribute on the field and enjoy himself.’
