Roy Keane blasted Manchester United midfielder Fred after his display against Liverpool, questioning why Solskjaer continues to persevere with the Brazilian star.
Fred endured a torrid evening as the Red devils fell to a 4-2 defeat to their arch-rivals, struggling to keep possession with one of his poor passes resulting in Liverpool’s third goal in the second-half.
The midfielder was replaced by Mason Greenwood shortly after with former United captain Keane condemning his ‘lazy’ and ‘sloppy’ display against the Reds.
‘I know Ole preserves with Fred but I can’t see it,’ he told Sky Sports. ‘How they think Fred is going to get United back to winning titles I don’t know. I know he [Solskjaer] dragged him off but even so it was sloppy, it was lazy. It is school boy stuff.
‘[Harry] Maguire is a loss but these are school boy errors. ‘Fred is under no pressure there and gives it away. Shaw is an experienced international player.’
He also said Henderson has looked “small” in goal and might not be the club’s answer to permanently replace David de Gea, who could leave this summer after falling out of favour.
He added: ‘We are building the goalkeeper [Dean Henderson] up to say is he going be the future no1 for United and they come up short. ‘Maguire is a loss but they are school boy errors, it has nothing to do with losing Maguire.’

Roy Keane brutally added: ‘I think the fact they took Fred off was a bigger help.’
‘We’ve just mentioned it, Shaw, it’s schoolboy stuff, it sums it up and then Liverpool are on the front foot. Then, the goalkeeper, who didn’t look great tonight, mistake after mistake – poor, poor from United.’
United have sealed a top four finish but have now lost three of their last four matches in all competitions, and they have conceded 10 goals in the process.
