‘I wish I could say no’ – Mo Salah makes Man City admission after Liverpool 2-2 draw

Mohamed Salah has conceded that a 2-2 draw was the fair result between Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Reds had to settle for only a point at Anfield in their final Premier League game before the October international break.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the Reds, before Phil Foden equalised for Manchester City.

Salah got his ninth goal of the campaign with a superb individual effort, but it was not the winner as Kevin De Bruyne restored parity in the latter stages of the second half.

Liverpool were under huge pressure from City for large parts of the first half, but responded well after the break to earn a point.

Salah concedes that the draw was a fair result for both teams, despite wishing that he could say otherwise.

“Yeah [draw is fair] I have to be fair,” Salah told Sky Sports, when asked if a draw between both sides was the right result.

“They had a lot of chances, kept the ball a lot. I wish I could say no, but it’s fair to say yes. “They had a lot of chances and a draw is a fair result for both.”

Salah’s goal was his sixth in the Premier League this season, ninth in all competitions, and marked the seventh successive game he has scored in.

The Egyptian star went on to explain his goal, saying that he wishes the goal marked a valuable win for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

“I have to watch it to see,” said Salah. “I do remember it a bit. “It would be a bit more special if we win the game but it is the result, it’s a good goal but nothing much to say.”

Salah went on to explain what was said in the club’s dressing room at the break, following Liverpool’s uninspiring performance.

“I don’t know, I think they dominated the game from the beginning and we struggled first half but then at least when we struggled it was 0-0,” said Salah.

“We talked in the dressing room, the second half we played good from the beginning of the second half so yeah.”

He continued: “It’s hard, it’s hard when they keep the ball a lot but I think [in the] first half we played not very good but [in the] second half we played well.

“They had a few chances as well but this is the result so I have to accept it.”
