Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful that three of his injured Manchester United players will be back in time to play Chelsea on Sunday, though Daniel James has injured his hamstring.

United progressed to the last 16 of the Europa League on Thursday after the draw with Real Sociedad, having won 4-0 in the first leg.

‘Hopefully we’ll get a few players back in and Dan tonight was hopefully not too bad,’ Solskjaer told BT Sport after the game.

‘He felt a tweak so we’ll have to check on him tonight. ‘Then Scott, Donny and Edinson we hope that they can be available for the weekend, I’m not sure. Paul [Pogba] is still out a few weeks unfortunately.’

He added: ‘Now until the international break I think we’ve got seven games, seven or eight games, and of course you have Chelsea, Leicester, Manchester City. So we have massive games.

‘West Ham, all important games in the league. Palace away. And then who knows who we draw [in the Europa League].

‘So these three weeks now until the international break are going to be massive for us. But we’re in a good place, confidence is good.’

The Red devils are still alive in three competitions and will fancy their chances of winning a silverware under Solskjaer this campaign.

‘You remember the defeats more so than the wins. To get the semi-finals in any competition, you’re so close,’ Solskjaer continued.

‘We’ve had three of them, we’ve lost one, so this group knows how it feels. ‘We are a group that are very tight together. You come in, your work every day, you have a few setbacks and knocks.

‘We want to go further but when you have failed before you want to do better. The culture is really improving and we’ve got some fantastic players and fantastic coaches.’
