Thomas Tuchel was not impressed with the manner of Arsenal’s winning goal against his Chelsea team and criticised Jorginho for his part in it.
Jorginho’s backpass ran past Kepa Arrizabalaga towards the open net and while the Chelsea keeper kept the ball out, Aubameyang squared the ball back to Emile Smith Rowe for a simple tap-in.
Tuchel was unhappy with the ‘total gift’ handed to Arteta’s side and made no secret of his annoyance at the error from Jorginho.
‘It’s totally our fault, nobody elses. I think we lost the game. It’s totally our responsibility. We had huge changes, we made an own goal more or less. A total gift.
‘But overall we were not sharp enough. We could not put the same energy in as usual.’
Asked whether Jorginho should have passed the ball wide of the post, he responded: ‘The rule is pass the ball to the right foot of Kepa. This is the rule. No matter if it’s in the goal or sideways, pass it to Kepa.’
Chelsea right-back Reece James agreed with Tuchel’s assessment that they had thrown the game away.

‘We lost,’ James told Sky Sports. ‘We made a mistake which led to their goal and didn’t take our chances. We only have ourselves to blame for the loss. On another day maybe the game goes differently.
‘They’re a good team and hard to break down. We had chances to score and put the game to bed.
‘The games come thick and fast and the players come in and out. Everyone is at different fitness levels. We all put 100% in and we’re going to get tired sometimes.
‘It doesn’t affect us in any way. We’re still fighting to win very game. The loss doesn’t affect us tonight. ‘It’s disappointing to lose but we can’t take negativity into tomorrow’s session.’
