Man Utd beat Real Madrid & Dortmund to sign Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho

Manchester United have signed teenage star Alejandro Garnacho from Atletico Madrid, beating clubs like Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to the youngster’s signature.

The 16-year-old is a striker and signed a five-year contract at the theatre of dreams, where he hopes to follow in the footsteps of his football idol Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Marca, Atletico were very interested in keeping hold of one of their most promising youngsters and have not made the exit easy for the player.

The Spanish club will receive some compensation for his move to the Premier League.

Garnacho will work with academy coach Nicky Butt, although he has shown he can compete above his age range, by playing for Atletico Madrid’s Under-19 team, despite only turning 16 in July.

There is a ‘non-aggression pact’ between Atletico and Madrid which made a move to the Bernabeu almost impossible, while the lure of following the same path as Ronaldo proved to make the difference for Alejandro Garnacho.

Manchester United have been making efforts to bring young players from Spain and Garnacho is the third star to arrive at the club this summer window.

Marc Jurado joined the club from Barcelona and Alvaro Carreras has joined from Madrid, the former is a right back and the latter playing on the left of defence.
