Garnacho’s stance on Real Madrid move ‘confirmed’ as transfer meeting ‘targeted’

Alejandro Garnacho has clarified his position regarding a speculated transfer from Manchester United to Real Madrid, as per recent reports.

Real Madrid Exclusivo reported that Real’s president, Florentino Perez, plans to discuss Garnacho’s potential transfer during his visit to Manchester for the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.

Born in Madrid and a former player for Atletico Madrid’s youth squad, Garnacho moved to Manchester United in 2020.

Despite Perez’s hopes to lure the Argentine back to his hometown, TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul reports that Garnacho is not looking to join Real Madrid currently.

Nonetheless, Garnacho harbors aspirations to don the Real Madrid jersey before hanging up his boots.

Last season marked Garnacho’s ascent to Manchester United’s first team under manager Erik ten Hag. This season, the 19-year-old has further elevated his game, netting five goals in 28 Premier League matches, including a remarkable bicycle kick against Everton.

Recently, Garnacho has been deployed on the right flank, a shift from his usual position on the left wing the previous season.

Revealing the reason for that change, Ten Hag told Sky Sports in December: “It is not only about the wingers. You always want the full-backs there.

“But we have often had to make compromises over the first half of the season. Diogo Dalot is right-footed on the left side. It can work very good but it is not always beneficial for your strikers.

“With Garnacho on the right, you get a right-footer, a different type of player who can go inside but also go outside. We want those dynamics with swapping positions, combinations, getting in behind, bringing it out of the triangles and, from there, serving our strikers.”
