Man Utd set price for De Gea as Solskjaer puts faith in Henderson

De Gea as Solskjaer Henderson

Manchester United have reportedly decided to sell David De Gea this summer transfer window and hope to raise as much as £50 million by selling the Spanish keeper.

The former Atletico Madrid goalie has lost his place in the side in recent weeks after attending the birth of his child in Spain, which handed Dean Henderson the opportunity to stake his claim to become a regular in the Premier League.

Henderson has been impressive during his stint between the sticks, keeping four clean sheets in six matches during De Gea’s absence.

And he has kept his spot since De Gea’s return and there’s now a sense at Old Trafford that it is time for Henderson to takeover as the club’s no.1.

De Gea is currently United’s top earner on £350,000-per-week and he’ll have two years left to run on his deal by the end of the campaign.

United value the goalkeeper at £50m according to the Mirror but that asking price could prove too much for teams in the current financial climate.

The Red Devils may now have to subsidise De Gea’s exit by continuing to pay some of his wages or giving him a pay-off.

De Gea and Phil Jones are the only remaining players of the squad to have won the Premier League and the England defender is also expected to leave the club this summer.

Sergio Romero is out of contract at the end of the campaign and will leave on a free, meaning Joel Pereira could be given the opportunity to become Henderson’s understudy next season.
