Chelsea ready to let Hudson-Odoi leave in huge boost to Man Utd

Tuchel with Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea are reportedly willing to allow Callum Hudson-Odoi leave the club this summer transfer window, with Borussia Dortmund leading the race to sign the England star.

The England international was keen on joining Bayern Munich in 2019 but he signed a new £120,000-per-week contract to stay at Stamford Bridge after Frank Lampard’s appointment.

Thomas Tuchel appeared to take a liking to Hudson-Odoi on his arrival at the club but the winger has struggled for game time under the German coach and has started just ten games in all competitions this campaign.

His situation has alerted Bundesliga side Dortmund, who are currently in search for a replacement for Jadon Sancho.

The former Manchester City attacker is keen on joining Manchester United this summer and they are confident of landing the winger after Dortmund lowered their asking price to around £75m.

Chelsea have shown an interest in Sancho but the player’s preference is Old Trafford and Eurosport claim Chelsea could aid United’s move for the 20-year-old by allowing Hudson-Odoi to join Dortmund.

Hudson-Odoi wants regular first-team football and Tuchel has several wingers to choose from, with Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner all ahead of him in the pecking order.

It’s likely the blues would favour a loan deal for Hudson-Odoi to Germany but a permanent move to the German club has not been ruled out.

Interestingly, Chelsea have reportedly asked to be kept aware of Sancho’s situation. The blues stole in to sign Timo Werner and Kai Havertz unexpectedly last summer and want to be included in any conversations when the time comes.

However, Dortmund are also keeping an eye on Leeds playmaker Raphinha, as well as Lille winger Jonathan Ikone.
