Rob Green has predicted the number of goals Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will score this campaign after the Chelsea striker continued his fine form in the Champions League win over AC Milan.
Aubameyang, who joined Chelsea from Barcelona on deadline day, has scored three goals in his last three appearances, helping Graham Potter’s side beat AC Milan twice in the space of seven days.
Ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Green has been impressed by Aubameyang’s impact at the club and says he could be the ’20-goal-a-season striker’ they have missed since Diego Costa’s exit.
Chelsea have failed to find a consistent goalscorer since Costa left in 2017, with Romelu Lukaku struggling last season before returning to Serie A over the summer.
Green told BBC Radio 5 Live: ‘Aubameyang is a quality finisher and we’ve seen that. He looks confident.
‘In this team, all he has to do is time his runs and he will keep getting opportunities. If he stays on this form, he could meet that 20 goals number.’
Ex-England goalkeeper Green, who spent a season at Stamford Bridge at the end of his playing career, also praised Mason Mount after Potter’s side beat AC Milan 2-0 at the San Siro.

Mount provided the assist for Aubameyang’s goal last night and also won the penalty that led to the red card for Milan’s former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.
‘It was brilliant to see,’ Green added. ‘I think he’s been a bit physically and mentally tired, but now he’s coming up for air. ‘The way he drifts into space and sees those opportunities is really good. He is very difficult to stop.’
Mount, meanwhile, said it is ‘obvious’ Chelsea are ‘going in the right direction’ under Potter as they clinched their fourth successive win.
He told BT Sport: ‘It’s been brilliant. You can see the way we’ve played. We’re an attacking threat going forward and solid at the back. We’re obviously going in the right direction.
‘The gaffer hasn’t changed too much, I’m just trying to get in the box and connect midfield to the strikers and be free. It’s been happening for me in the past couple of games – I want more.
‘I feel really good. I’m enjoying it and we’re playing well and scoring goals. Hopefully next I get a goal. ‘It’s been coming but I haven’t finished it off yet. I’ll take the assists, setting up goals for my team-mates.’
