Erik ten Hag fuming as Sevilla star ridicules Man Utd after Europa League exit

Erik ten Hag will have been left furious after Manchester United lost 3-0 to Sevilla on Thursday and one of the opposition’s players revealed how the victory is like any other win for his team.

United looked to be in a good position in the first leg at Old Trafford as a Marcel Sabitzer brace put them 2-0 up. But, late own goals from Malacia and Harry Maguire handed Sevilla a route back into the tie.

And, things got worse for Ten Hag’s side in the second leg. They were dumped out of the Europa League as Sevilla picked up a convincing win at home, helped by United’s frailty at the back.

David de Gea gave the ball to Maguire in a dangerous position and the captain lost it, allowing Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri to score in the eighth minute.

Loic Bade doubled Sevilla’s advantage by heading home from a corner. The Red Devils terrible night was then summed up by a poor mistake from De Gea.

During a post-match interview with Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic humiliated United further by saying how the win was ‘just another night’ for his team.

“All of us who know Sevilla, it’s hard to say, but we know it’s just another night,” he said. “This crowd have given us so much glory and joy. And if the referee had played for fifteen more minutes, that would have been welcome too.”

He added: “It’s a victory for all of us, we’ve been through a lot during the year and we deserve it.”

Rakitic also praised the supporters for making the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadiu an intimidating place.

“You can see the emotion of desire, of fighting,” he said. “The atmosphere was noticeable. Rarely have I received so many messages before a game. It’s no coincidence.

“We’ve reached the semi-finals, it’s no big deal. We’re going to face Juventus, who are one of the favourites. So, let’s fight and continue doing our thing.”
