Arsenal will refuse to sell star midfielder Lucas Torreira this summer window amid interest from Serie A side AC Milan, according to reports.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a return to Italy just a season after he signed for the Gunners from Sampdoria for £26million.
Former Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo is set to succeed Gennaro Gattuso at the San Siro, with the 51-year-old believed to be keen on signing the Uruguayan international.
But according to Sky Sport news, the North Londoners will not allow the midfielder to depart the club.
The reports claim that Milan are now eyeing up other possible options, with Sassuolo’s Stefano Sensi being considered by the Rossoneri.
Torreira is a firm fan favourite at the Emirates with fans immediately taking to his style of play, while he endeared himself to the Arsenal supporters after opening his account for the club in the 4-2 victory against rivals Tottenham.
He played 50 games for the gunners last season – with 34 of his outings coming in the Premier League.
The player recently conceded that life was better when he was in Italy, though he said he will adapt to living in England as the years pass.
Speaking of life in London, Torreira told Ovacion: “I don’t know if there are many things that I enjoy.
“I think it was better in Italy. England is a totally different world, a very large country.
