Manchester United have made an offer of £45million for Fiorentina central defender Nikola Milenkovic.
Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic as an alternative to Leicester City star Harry Maguire.
The 21-year-old was a target for Jose Mourinho in 2018 and the Red devils failed with a bid of around £36million to sign him earlier this year.
United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made two signings so far this summer window but remains keen to make further additions and wants a central defender to partner Victor Lindelof.
The 26-year-old is considered to be the ideal candidate but Leicester want £90m for the England international and United are unwilling to meet their valuation.
That’s forced Solskjaer to look into other options and Gianluca Di Marzio claims Manchester United have approached Fiorentina for the signature of Milenkovic.
And United reportedly sounded out the Italian club as to the availability of the defender.
Fiorentina wanted around £45million for the Serbian defender in the January window and would likely accept a similar offer this time around.
The signing of a central defender would come from Solskjaer’s remaining budget but any further deals are likely to depend on the possible exit of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.
Solskjaer is determined to keep Paul Pogba but United are willing to allow Lukaku join Inter Milan, provided the Serie A team meet their £75m valuation of the Belgium international.
