Former Manchester United keeper Ben Foster has revealed he hated training with Nemanja Vidic while at Old Trafford.
The shot-stopper spent five years at United, but never managed to establish himself as No.1 with the Red devils.
Vidic, on the other hand, enjoyed a trophy-laden career at the club, but Foster explained the defender was a nightmare to train with.
‘Just talking about Nemanja, off the pitch he was fairly quiet wasn’t he, but on the pitch, in training, that guy was a scary bloke, honestly,’ Ben Foster told the Squeaky Bum Time podcast.
‘Horrible, honestly he did not care. If we were playing a five-a-side or six-a-side or something, if you were on his team, I used to think “please don’t be on Nemanja’s team, please don’t”.
‘Because if we didn’t win, if I let a goal in that he thinks I should have done better with, he was letting you know and he would dig you out and he was after everybody.
‘Honestly he was horrible in training but off the pitch completely different.’
Nemanja Vidic would form a formidable partnership with Ferdinand while at the theatre of dreams and Foster believes the pair might go down as the League’s best ever defensive duo.
‘It’s literally the dream [partnership],’ he explained.
‘You’ve got the two extremes of defenders. You’ve got the most elegant, ball-playing, just taking it all in his stride, sort of defender in Rio.
‘Then you’ve got the absolute workhorse, animal, would happily stick his face in front of a flying boot to stop the ball. It was literally a dream team.
‘I don’t know if people will vote it as the most impressive center-back pairing in the history of the Premier League, but for me I think it probably is.’
