Barcelona’s Aubameyang responds to Chelsea’s transfer approach

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wants to stay at Barcelona after receiving an approach from Chelsea, according to reports in Spain.

Chelsea have already improved their attack with the arrival of Raheem Sterling from Man City but are also looking to sign a new striker before the end of the summer window after Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter.

Aubameyang, meanwhile, joined the La Liga giants in February but the arrival of Lewandowski from Bayern has raised questions about the striker’s future at Camp Nou.

Barcelona are also looking to trim their wage bill by removing some of the high earners in their team and the club are already looking to sell Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay.

Chelsea have now made an approach to Aubameyang’s entourage to discuss a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

But according to Mundo Deportivo, Aubameyang wants to stay at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving Camp Nou so soon after arriving at the club.

The report also claims that Aubameyang does not feel threatened by Barcelona’s decision to sign Lewandowski, while Xavi also wants the former Arsenal skipper to stay.

A source close to Aubameyang told the Spanish newspaper: ‘Auba is very happy at Barca and he’s not thinking about leaving.’

Aubameyang’s current contract with Barca runs until 2025 but there is an exit option which allows the attacker to leave next year.
