Barcelona confirm Sergio Aguero out for 10 weeks with calf injury

Barcelona have suffered a major setback as Sergio Aguero has been ruled out until November due to injury, the club have confirmed.

The Argentina international signed for Barca on a free transfer from Manchester City at the end of May and signed a two-year deal with the club.

But, Barcelona have not been able to register Aguero due to their financial problems and their failure to fall below La Liga’s salary cap.

Lionel Messi, who had agreed to sign a new deal earlier this summer, was forced to leave Barca last week due to their ‘financial and structural obstacles’.

Aguero was out of Barcelona’s 3-0 win over Juventus in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday due to a calf problem.

“Tests carried out on first-team player Kun Aguero have confirmed a right calf injury. He will be out around ten weeks,” Barcelona said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Despite Messi’s exit, Aguero has indicated that he will remain at Camp Nou for the upcoming season.

When confronted by Barcelona fans outside the club’s training ground on Saturday, Aguero said: ‘Don’t worry, you have me all year long.’

Aguero’s hopes of playing with Messi have been dashed but he still sent a message of support to his Argentina teammate after the news of his shocking exit.

‘All the best in whatever comes my friend. And always with that smile. I love you,’ Aguero wrote on Instagram.

Barcelona’s La Liga season will kick-off on Sunday as they host Real Sociedad at Camp Nou.
