Bruno Fernandes silences Guardiola with finger gesture during Manchester Derby win

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes ‘shushed’ Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in the dying minutes of the Derby at Old Trafford.

Anthony Martial’s first half goal gave the Red devils an advantage but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team were hanging on as the clash entered the final moments.

United were dead on their feet after an all-action performance and it was clear that there was some time management being executed by the club as they looked to see out the game.

That didn’t go down well with City coach Pep Guardiola and the Spaniard was visibly frustrated as Luke Shaw took his time over a throw-in before the match entered stoppage time.

Solskjaer was nearest to Guardiola but it was Bruno Fernandes that took umbrage with the former Barcelona coach and the Portuguese midfielder put his fingers to his lips to ‘shush’ the City boss.

United supporters have already taken the Portugal international to their hearts but the gesture will only reinforce the brilliant impression he’s already made at the club.

As it turned out, it was the Red devils that found a goal in injury time as Scott McTominay capitalised on a mistake by Ederson to smash into an empty net.

The victory means United are back up into fifth, three points behind rivals Chelsea.

It’s arguably the finest win of Solskjaer’s era at the club since he was appointed permanent head coach and United have now beaten Guardiola’s City three times in all competitions this campaign.

Anthony Martial’s goal means he’s the first player since Cristiano Ronaldo to score home and away against Manchester City.
