Edinson Cavani said he was ‘looking forward to coming back soon’ as he hinted he was close to a return to first-team action after Manchester United’s goalless draw with Chelsea.
The Red devils appeared to miss Cavani up front as they lost further ground on Premier League leaders Manchester City with Sunday’s draw against Chelsea.
Cavani had been absent for United’s last three games due to a muscle injury and though there were hopes the veteran striker could feature, he failed to even make the bench against the blues.
And, Solskjaer will be desperate to have Cavani available for their next two matches away to Crystal Palace and City and the striker provided an update on his fitness on Sunday.
‘Looking forward to coming back soon,’ he told his followers on Instagram.
Eyebrows were raised when United signed Cavani on a free transfer given his age and the fact he went seven months without playing any game for PSG before arriving at the club.
But Cavani has silenced his doubters with a number of outstanding performances in his first half-a-season in the Premier League.
The Uruguay international has six goals and two assists in the Premier League this season and helped the club secure a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals after finding the net against Everton.
