Chelsea ready to pay £150m for Erling Haaland

Chelsea are lining up a bid to sign Erling Haaland this summer which they believe Borussia Dortmund will accept, according to reports.

The Norwegian star has rose to become one of the world’s most coveted talents. As a result, he has been linked with a move to the Premier League. Manchester United had interest, but their signing of Jadon Sancho has ruled them out – for this summer at least.

Manchester City are also interested, but manager Pep Guardiola has thrown fresh doubt over his team’s chances.

Chelsea remain the only Premier League team with strong ties to Haaland’s transfer. And the club owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly made it his mission to sign the player.

According to 90min, the London club – aided by transfer chief Marina Granovskaia – are preparing a £150million offer for Haaland.

The blues officials believe that Dortmund will have no choice but to accept such a proposal for the young attacker.

Most sides want to wait until next season to go after Haaland, when a £64million release clause activates in his contract at the club.

However, Chelsea know that ‘enormous’ competition will arise next year. Therefore, they plan to raid Dortmund this summer window, with the German team ‘bracing’ themselves for an offer.

While they are keen to keep Haaland for at least one more year, the temptation to sell for more than double what they would get could prove too tempting for them to resist.

Accordinh to 90min, Dortmund refused to sell when there were talks over a £100million fee. Now, though, the landscape has changed with Chelsea’s plan.

As for Haaland, he has previously revealed that he wants to honour his Dortmund contract. But 90min says that he is open to moving to London after living in Leeds with father Alf-Inge Haaland.
