Chelsea’s stance on finally sacking Mauricio Pochettino revealed

According to reports, Chelsea is contemplating the possibility of parting with head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine was appointed to Stamford Bridge in the summer, alongside numerous new signings, with the mission of building an exhilarating new team.

Nevertheless, despite guiding Chelsea to an EFL Cup final against Liverpool this month, Pochettino faces challenges as the Blues currently occupy the 11th position in the Premier League.

Following a 4-1 loss at Liverpool and a 4-2 defeat at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Chelsea now trails seventh-placed Manchester United by seven points.

Prior to these setbacks, Chelsea had enjoyed a positive run, securing five wins in seven games across all competitions and achieving four consecutive league victories at their West London home.

However, following the defeat to Wolves, TEAMtalk suggests that Chelsea’s owners are contemplating the possibility of dismissing Pochettino.

The current situation remains uncertain regarding whether the 51-year-old is immediately at risk of being removed or if a decision hinges on Chelsea’s improvement.

Pochettino boasts a record of 14 wins, six draws, and 11 defeats in 31 games across all competitions, with a win percentage of 45%, surpassing Graham Potter’s 39% over the same number of games.

Nevertheless, Pochettino’s performance record comes with a significantly higher expenditure and a major squad overhaul undertaken by Chelsea in the summer.

Following the loss to Wolves, Pochettino openly acknowledged the possibility of being sacked, recognizing that Chelsea’s current performance falls short of expectations.

Conversely, he consistently emphasizes Chelsea’s position at the project’s outset, stressing that time is required for his players, who constitute one of the youngest squads in the Premier League, to reach their full potential.

Chelsea’s upcoming fixture is an FA Cup fourth-round replay against Aston Villa, with the initial tie concluding goalless prior to the recent defeats.

Subsequently, they face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on February 12, followed by a challenging away match against Manchester City on February 17.
