Chelsea star ‘smashed seat up in anger’ after Pochettino tactical decision in Wolves defeat

One of Mauricio Pochettino’s key players was displeased with the tactical substitution made during Chelsea’s heavy defeat to Wolves.

After a 4-2 loss to Wolves on Sunday, Chelsea experienced their 10th league defeat of the season.

After the result, Thiago Silva’s wife shared a cryptic tweet, leaving Chelsea fans astonished by Ben Chilwell’s comments in his post-match interview at Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling faced boos when substituted, and Moises Caicedo displayed frustration, reportedly smashing his seat in anger after being replaced by Nicolas Jackson, as reported by Rahman Osman.

Pochettino opted to exchange a midfielder for a forward in an attempt to turn the game around.

Unfortunately, his tactical choice did not yield success, and Wolves emerged victorious with a 4-2 scoreline. Despite the hefty £115 million price tag last summer, Caicedo has struggled to justify his value through his performances for Chelsea this season.

Speaking after the game, the Argentine coach said: “I think we are all not good enough. At the moment this is the reality. Myself, also. What we are showing today is we are not good enough. We didn’t manage the situation properly.

“No-one can be safe, no? I don’t want to come here and say I’m the best.

“At the moment, we are not matching the history of the club, that is true. We need to accept and be critical. We will not give up.”

On Chelsea fans being angry in the stadium, the manager added: “The perception is Chelsea should be in a different position but for different circumstances, we are not. One is maybe because we’re not good enough.

“To understand the fans is really important. I feel sorry. We are disappointed like them but until the end we need to fight together. During the game we need to work together to get a good result.”

Chelsea currently occupy a spot in the bottom of the league table as they lie in 11th place, with only 31 points on the board.
