Chelsea took full advantage of the huge wealth at new owner Todd Boehly’s disposal in the summer transfer window, spending more than £270million.
Eight players in total arrived at Stamford Bridge by the end of August, leading to hope that they could mount a Premier League title push. So far, that is yet to be seen.
It was not only transfer fees that Chelsea spent large amounts on, with many of their new summer additions also handed massive wages.

10. Christian Pulisic – £160,000
American international Christian Pulisic was handed a huge contract when he was signed from Dortmund in 2019. The Blues pay out £160,000 per week to him, with his contract having another two years to run.
9. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – £160,000
Chelsea paid Barcelona just over £10m to take Aubameyang off their hands, handing him a contract in the region of £160,000 per week in wages. And that puts him ninth in this list.
8. Marc Cucurella – £175,000
Cucurella, who was signed for more than £55m from Brighton. Despite being just 24-years-old, the left-back was handed a wage of £175,000 per week for his six-year deal.
7. Ben Chilwell – £190,000
Cucurella’s rival for the left-back position is Ben Chilwell, signed in 2020 from Leicester City. The England star was handed a five-year contract with a wage of £190,000 upon his arrival at the club.
6. Kepa – £190,000
The most expensive goalkeeper in football was handed a wage to match that standing when he was signed from Athletic Bilbao. Kepa earns £190,000 per week as part of a contract that expires in 2025.
5. Wesley Fofana – £200,000
Another summer signing, Wesley Fofana was handed a massive wage when he was signed at the end of the window. Chelsea brought an end to a summer-long chase by paying a fee of £70m to Leicester.
4. Reece James – £250,000
One of the brightest players to graduate from Chelsea’s academy in recent years has been Reece James. He has established himself in their first-team, playing at both right wing-back and at centre-back. His impressive performances saw him handed a new contract at the start of September.
3. Kalidou Koulibaly – £295,000
Kalidou Koulibaly has long been linked with a move to England and finally realised that by joining Chelsea in the summer. And he ascended into their top three highest earners with a £295,000 per week wage.
2. Kai Havertz – £310,000
Kai Havertz became Chelsea’s record signing back in 2020 when he arrived from Bayer Leverkusen. The German star was handed a wage of £310,000 per week when he arrived at Stamford Bridge.
1. Raheem Sterling – £325,000
Raheem Sterling is now Chelsea’s highest earner after joining from Man City in the summer, The Englishman had grown frustrated with his lack of games at the Etihad and was immediately handed a starting spot at the Blues.
