Enzo Fernandez names Chelsea star he has special bond with

Enzo Fernandez expressed his ‘solid connection’ with Chelsea colleague Moises Caicedo and discussed the challenges faced under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea invested £106.8m in acquiring Fernandez from Benfica a year ago, and later secured midfielder Caicedo from Brighton in a £115m deal this summer.

Despite significant expenditures on players, Chelsea has faced on-field challenges since Pochettino’s arrival in May.

Last season, the Blues concluded in 12th place in the Premier League standings. However, under Pochettino’s management, they currently hold the ninth position after 21 games this season.

Fernandez has defended his fellow Argentine, as he told ESPN: ‘We need time, it’s a process with a lot of new players.

‘The group came together this year, it isn’t easy to quickly find a good way of playing. But we are doing all we can to find that style as quickly as possible.

‘The day-to-day with Pochettino is really good, he gets very close with the players.

‘He is very human and gives us a lot of confidence and ease when it comes to playing.’

When quizzed about his relationship with Ecuador international Caicedo, Fernandez added: ‘Moi and I have built a strong bond.

‘We have a great relationship off the pitch, and when it comes to playing, the communication is different – we know that with just a glance, we understand each other.’
