Karim Adeyemi rejects Man Utd huge offer for Dortmund move

Karim Adeyemi has turned down the chance to join Manchester United in favour of Dortmund, despite the club bettering the Germans’ salary offer with wages of around £150,000-per-week.

The Red Devils plan on signing at least one striker this summer, with Edinson Cavani set to leave the club at the end of his contract.

Adeyemi has been in scintillating form for RB Salzburg this campaign, scoring 21 times in 41 games.

Ralf Rangnick is well aware of the 20-year-old’s potential given his knowledge and contacts of the Red Bull franchise and it’s reported he has recommended the striker to United.

Bur, German reporter Patrick Berger says United were too late to a deal for Adeyemi and he will join Dortmund in a five-year deal instead.

That’s despite United bettering Dortmund’s salary offer, with Adeyemi snubbing wages of £150,000-a-week at Old Trafford in order to move to Germany.

Adeyemi’s move to Dortmund is set to be completed in the coming weeks and Salzburg value him at around £32m. He is expected to replace Erling Haaland, who is closing in on an agreement with Man City.

Rangnick conceded last week that United need forwards this summer. The German coach says the club should be targeting at least two ‘modern’ strikers to play with Ronaldo.

‘Cristiano isn’t a central striker or does not want to play in that position,’ Rangnick said.

‘It’s obvious the club needs at least two new strikers who give this team more quality and more options. I wouldn’t even call it wingers.

‘Two strikers and modern strikers, that do not necessarily have to be wingers. If you look into international football, there aren’t many top teams who still play with two strikers. Most play with either three strikers or a false nine.”

‘If you look at Liverpool and Manchester City … they have in their squad five or six top-class strikers.
