Divock Origi was described as the best finisher at Liverpool after his crucial cameo snapped Everton’s spirit and maintained his team’s bid for the quadruple.
The Belgium star was introduced after an hour and immediately had a hand in Andrew Robertson’s opening goal before sealing a crucial win which allowed Liverpool to close to within a point of Man City.
Origi is expected to leave when his contract expires in the summer, but his cameo represented another of the great imprints that have defined his career at the club.
Having scored a brace in the huge Champions League semi-final comeback against Barcelona, he followed with a goal in the final as Liverpool beat Tottenham to win the competition.
Manager Klopp embraced Origi at full time, highlighting the magnitude of the win in such a key game as Liverpool continue to chase a quadruple sweep of trophies.
“[Origi] is an incredible striker and for different reasons he did not play that often, but I hope one day he finds a manager that plays him more than I do,” Klopp stated in December.
“He’s one of the best finishers I’ve ever seen in my life. In this great team, with our [front] three, he doesn’t play all the time but he is a very positive boy, loves the club, wants to contribute and he did in an incredible way.”
Liverpool now face Villarreal in the Champions League semi-final next, before a tough run in to compete with Man City for the Premier League, and an FA Cup final against Chelsea set to take place.
Origi doesn’t feature much these days for the Reds, but when he does, it’s often to pop up with an important goal off the bench.,
