Kylian Mbappe tests negative for coronavirus

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has undergone a test for coronavirus, but the result has come back negative for the superstar.

The Frenchman is believed to be the first high-profile footballer to undergo a test for the illness, which has hit the world in recent weeks.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday that Mbappe has been ill in recent days, forcing him out of the club training since Monday.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel had said that Mbappe “was sick yesterday and he is sick today” ahead of their upcoming Champions League game with Dortmund.

Mbappe’s status for that game is still uncertain, with PSG set to play host to the Bundesliga club at the Parc des Princes after falling to a 2-1 defeat in the first leg in Germany.

Wednesday’s game will be played behind closed doors as a result of the outbreak, while Ligue 1 games will either be played behind closed doors or have fan numbers restricted.

Mbappe already has scored 30 goals in 32 games for PSG this campaign, including 18 goals in thr French League and six goals in the Champions League.

Italian prime minister Giuseppe Conte announced on Monday that Serie A has been suspended indefinitely as they continue to struggle to contain the spread of the illness.

Euro 2020 is also said to be in danger, with UEFA saying that the situation is “under constant scrutiny” and that they will follow the orders of any host countries affected.

PSG currently sit top of the Ligue 1 with a 12-point lead over Marseille despite playing one fewer game.
