Frank Lampard has confirmed Thiago Silva and Edouard Mendy will not be involved in Chelsea’s match against Southampton but Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech are in the squad.
Mendy picked up a thigh injury while away on international duty. And Thiago Silva will be rested, having recently featured for the Brazil national team.
But Ben Chilwell and Hakim Ziyech are both in Chelsea’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League game, as is Christian Pulisic.
“Mendy won’t be fit for the match tomorrow. We hope the injury is not too long,” said Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
“Thiago Silva after his trip and back is not unfit but he’s not ready to play in the game, so he won’t be in the squad.
“Ben Chilwell is in the squad. He’s got over some of the pain he had. We took him out of the England squad around the injury that’s had for a while now.
“Christian Pulisic is in the squad and fit to play. Hakim Ziyech is in the squad and is not fit to start but we hope will get some minutes.”

Chilwell was withdrawn from the England squad this week in order to receive treatment at Stamford Bridge on a foot problem which has troubled him since before his summer transfer move from Leicester City.
Ziyech is yet to make a competitive debut for Chelsea, having picked up a knee injury in a pre-season friendly game against Brighton. But he returned to football action for Morocco and is expected to be among the substitutes on Saturday.
