Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is not afraid of a little bit of competition at the club after the arrival of Raphael Varane.
Varane was one of four summer signings for the Red devils – joining from Spanish giants Real Madrid – along with Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus
The France international is seen as a direct threat to Lindelof’s starting position in Solskjaer’s starting lineup for the 2021/2022 Premier League campaign.

Lindelof started the season well, not only playing 90 minutes in the season-opener against Leeds but he also got an assist for Bruno Fernandes’ goal with a delightful ball over the top – Varane was unavailable for the game.
The former Benfica player was then rewarded with another start the following week in the draw against Southampton, Varane was among the substitutes but Solskjaer opted against bringing him on.
But, the roles were reversed a week later when he was made to watch from the bench against Wolves, Varane being the preferred partner in defence alongside Harry Maguire.
Varane helped United to a clean sheet and turned provider when he set up Greenwood to score the only goal of the game. His arrival has been seen as a good thing by Lindelof, who will not shy away from the competition.
‘It’s great, I play in one of the world’s biggest clubs and they have very good players. We will have a competitive situation and I only see it as positive that we have got a good player in the squad,’ he told Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt while on international duty.
‘It will only develop us, for my own part I see no problem with it. Sometimes I may not play a match, but for me, it does absolutely nothing.
‘I have played a lot the last two years and last year I had big back problems and played with pain.
‘I think the squad looks very good. It feels good, we have a good atmosphere in the team and the Premier League is always a tough league. But we will do everything we can to win the title. That is the goal.’
