Jose Mourinho appeared to poke fun at the Red devils over Bruno Fernandes transfer saga, asking Sky Sports: “Is he coming to Manchester United or not?”
United have been in hot pursuit of the Portugal international all through January, and have reportedly agreed terms with him.
However, thay have been unable to agree on a transfer fee with Sporting Lisbon, with United looking to pay £50million for the player and the Portuguese side holding out for a figure closer to £70million to allow him leave.
Fernandes is said to be desperate to complete a move to Old Trafford this month, with the saga being dragged out across the entire January window.
And it seems the midfielder isn’t alone in wanting to get the deal wrapped up soon, with ex-Man United manager Mourinho reacting to the transfer story.
Speaking to a Sky Sports reporter, Jose Mourinho asked: “So Bruno Fernandes is coming to United or not? You go to Lisbon for that, and he’s not coming? He’s coming or not?”
The transfer is still up in the air, but his agent Jorge Mendes claimed Fernandes will definitely leave Sporting either in January or at the end of this campaign.
“If he doesn’t leave now, he will leave for sure in the summer because Sporting have already spoken with other clubs,” said Mendes on Sky Sports.
“Something will happen but I am not sure if now or at the end of the season.”
