Ousmane Dembele responds to Man Utd & Liverpool transfer interest

Dembele

Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele has reportedly refused the opportunity to sign for Manchester United or Liverpool before the end of the window.

The Red devils have reportedly opened talks over a possible deal for Dembele as an alternative to Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

The England star has been United’s first-choice target this summer but Dortmund are standing firm over their £108m asking price and reiterated this week that they do not want to sell the winger.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also expressed an interest in Dembele with Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer of the Barcelona winger.

However, while speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano says that Dembele has made it clear to Manchester United and Liverpool that he wants to remain at the Camp Nou.

Romano claims that Klopp was ‘convinced’ that the Reds could agree a loan deal with Barca, which would include an option to sign on permanent deal, but Dembele wants to spend another season at the club.

Dembele’s stay at Barcelona has been hampered by injuries since he joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in a £135.5m deal in 2017.

The Frenchman played just nine games last campaign and it appeared that Barcelona were willing to sell him this summer, with reports claiming that the La Liga giants were asking for a £92m transfer fee.

But, new Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman has reportedly told Dembele that he wants him to be an important part of the squad for the upcoming season.

In response to Dembele’s persistent hamstring problems, Barcelona’s medical staff have constructed a tailored plan in order to minimise hisvrisk of suffering another injury setback.
