Christian Pulisic makes final decision on Man Utd transfer

Christian Pulisic is now set to perform a U-turn and turn down a potential loan move to Manchester United.

The USA international has struggled to win the faith of Tuchel and had been seeking talks with the Chelsea manager to ascertain his place in his manager’s plans.

With Raheem Sterling and Mason Mount firmly established in Tuchel’s starting lineup, Pulisic is likely to be afforded only limited chances in his favourite positions and is reported to have been frustrated in the past at being asked to fill in at wing-back or as a false nine.

The 23-year-old had been contemplating his future amid interest from both Newcastle and Atletico Madrid, while Erik ten Hag was willing to offer him a solution to his lack of minutes ahead of the World Cup.

Chelsea were even reported to have enquired about a possible swap deal involving out of sorts United skipper Harry Maguire as they continue to be frustrated in their attempts to sign Fofana from Leicester City.

According to the Daily Mail, Pulisic is set to perform a U-turn and commit his future to Chelsea where he plans to stay and fight for a first team place.

The former Dortmund player is also unwilling to wait on United, who have earmarked Ajax star Antony as their No.1 target to provide competition for Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashord.

United have seen an €80m offer for the Brazil international rejected this week and are likely to test the waters again next week, especially given the player is keen to be reunited with Ten Hag.

Asked by De Telegraaf if he can guarantee that he will be at Ajax beyond the end of the transfer window, he said: ‘No, to be perfectly honest, I can’t.

‘What I can say is that I want to come to the right decision with my family, business partners and Ajax, which is good for everyone.

‘In the end, God determines my future. I am very happy at Ajax, I have a contract until the summer of 2025 and I will give everything for this beautiful club for every second.

‘I wear the shirt with pride and from day one I feel at home. If we all decide that I will stay here, then I know that this is the best thing for me and the club.

‘It’s not like I have to leave. Now I am focusing on playing football and have put all other matters in the hands of my agents and my brother. They will advise me on what is best.’
