Ronaldo left out by La Liga in post asking fans to choose their favourite legend

Fans are angry that La Liga snubbed Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo as one of the legends of the Spanish league.

The League posted on Facebook a picture that featured 20 footballers, with a caption that asked supporters to ‘choose their favourite legend.’

And there are plenty of legends to choose from, which includes Lionel Messi, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho, Xavi, Andrés Iniesta and Fernando Torres.

But there was no place for the ex-Real Madrid star and supporters were quick to point out the embarrassment on part of La Liga.

“You forgot about [the] godfather of all of them. Cristiano Ronaldo,” one supporter wrote.

Someone else said: “Cristiano, I guess, is too good to be in here.”

A third wrote: “Where is Cristiano Ronaldo, the worldwide legend?”

A fourth person said: “Cristiano Ronaldo, and he can’t be compared with any of these legends because he is out of this world. Suiiiiuiiiieeeeeeeee [sic].”

And La Liga have been left furious after supporters pointed out that the likes of Jesús Navas and Pablo Aimar made the picture selection ahead of the Portugal international.

Cristiano Ronaldo became Madrid’s all-time record scorer during his nine-year stay at the Santiago Bernabéu and won four Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles and two Copa del Reys.

The 34-year-old star moved to Juventus last summer window and enjoyed a good debut campaign in Serie A.

Along with winning the Scudetto and the Supercoppa Italiana, he also took home the award for Serie A Player of the Year.

Ronaldo might have missed out on a spot in the European XI, but his focus is on the start of the new campaign as he is training very hard during his pre-season holiday.

The Juve star has had a lasting impression on teammate Blaise Matuidi, who revealed the hunger of the forward in training.

“After the World Cup, I did not have time to play around because if I had played around, someone else would have taken my place,” he told L’Équipe.

“The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, seeing him work on a daily basis, I can tell you that it does not leave you the choice either. He’s won everything.
