Cristiano Ronaldo ready to take pay cut to rejoin Man Utd this summer

Cristiano Ronaldo is considering a move back to Manchester United more seriously than at any other point since leaving the club 11 years ago, according to reports.

The Portugal forward has been regularly linked with a return to Old Trafford, having won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups during his time under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Interest remains heading into the summer. The Athletic claim United are monitoring Ronaldo’s situation at Juventus, where failure to qualify for the Champions League could trigger an exit, with Solskjaer still in touch with the player.

With his future uncertain, AS claim the Red devils have made it clear to Ronaldo that they are ready to re-sign him this summer, with the Portugal international very receptive to their plans.

They add Solskjaer’s contact with the player has extended to ‘outlining his plans for the team’ and explain ‘how important his return would be’ for United.

Whether or not Juve qualify, the Champions League will have a major role in Ronaldo’s decision, with the Serie A giants currently in fifth place with their destiny no longer in their own hands heading into their last game against Bologna.

But the report claims if the Italian side miss out, there is ‘no chance’ he stays in Turin.

Juventus are also unlikely to stand in his way – they are ready to accept fee of around €25m for his signature or look into a possible swap deal.

AS add Ronaldo is also ready to take a pay cut to make the move happen, attracted to the idea of bringing his career full circle by returning to United to help them return to the summit of the Premier League before retiring at Sporting CP.

Meanwhile, signing a centre-back is United’s priority this summer window and the Telegraph claim officials at the club are tracking Joachim Andersen, who has enjoyed a good season on loan at Fulham despite their relegation.

It’s reported Lyon would ask for around £25million for Andersen this summer.
