Antonio Rudiger has revealed that Callum Hudson-Odoi asked him about a move to Bayern Munich and believes Eden Hazard’s exit last summer played a key role in persuading the player to stay at Chelsea.
Hudson-Odoi handed in a transfer request last January window in order to force through a transfer move to Bayern, who had submitted a £35 million offer.
But Chelsea refused to sell and the 19-year-old winger ended up signing a new deal with the west London club worth around £120,000 a week.
Last campaign, Hudson-Odoi struggled for playing time under Maurizio Sarri but the England international has been handed more chances to impress under Frank Lampard.
And Antonio Rudiger had a huge influence on Hudson-Odoi’s decision to remain at the club.
‘Of course he asked me about Bayern Munich back them,’ Rudiger told Sport Bild.
‘I told him that it was of course a great club.

‘The transfer ban and the departure of Eden Hazard, which we had been expecting for a long time, made it clear that Callum would get more appearances.’
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has made good on his promise to utilise the club academy with Hudson-Odoi playing 22 times since returning from an Achilles injury in September.
