Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly unhappy that Manchester United failed to sign new midfielder last summer window.
United were linked with summer moves for Declan Rice, Camavinga, Leon Goretzka and Tchouameni but ultimately prioritised deals for Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
Solskjaer has already used seven different combinations in midfield this campaign and United’s vulnerability in the centre of the pitch was exposed as Leicester City sealed a 4-2 victory to pile more pressure on the Norwegian coach.

The defeat on Saturday saw United’s winless run in the league extend to three games, with Solskjaer’s side slipping to sixth in the Premier League, five points behind Chelsea.
Solskjaer has repeatedly insisted he is happy with his team at Old Trafford & believes the current group can lead the club to titles, but the MEN claim he is unhappy that a new midfielder did not arrive in the summer.
The Red devils have spent more than £450m on signings since Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho as manager in December 2018, but Fred, Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic and Van de Beek have been criticised by supporters.
Former England player and Premier League legend Alan Shearer believes United made a mistake by failing to sign a midfielder during the last window.
‘That was Manchester United’s problem last season, they didn’t invest in that position and it’s the same again,’ he said on Match of the Day after United’s defeat to Leicester City.
‘There’s no one in there to really press and take control from the front. You can’t do that in the Premier League.
‘They will always score, Man United, because of the brilliance they have going forward. But you cannot press if you haven’t got that aggression.’
Following the Leicester defeat, Solskjaer said: ‘The whole performance was not good enough with or without the ball. Over the international break we have had a good look to see what has gone wrong lately.
‘We have had too many games where we have lost points so we need to look at the whole set up and balance of the team and maybe something has to give.
‘Every point in the Premier League you have to fight for. You have to tackle, block and win headers and in key moments today we didn’t do that enough.
‘Every game is a test of character here. Especially now it is an examination of character, staff, players and everyone around here.’
