Lampard tells Chelsea to complete Declan Rice transfer after Chilwell & Thiago Silva deals

Frank Lampard has reportedly told Chelsea to complete a deal to sign West Ham midfielder Declan Rice after welcoming Ben Chilwell and Thiago Silva to the club.

Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League last campaign, and they have already spent more than £125million on new additions to the team.

But Lampard wants to improve his squad further before this summer transfer window shuts in October and has now turned his attention to Declan Rice.

According to The Sun, Lampard wants the blues to sign the England international and believes the versatile player can help get the club back in the Premier League title race.

While the club impressed in Lampard’s first campaign as managet, they still finished way off Guardiola’s Manchester City and Klopp’s Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz and are now plotting a move for Rice, who enjoyed a good campaign in east London.

West Ham value the 21-year-old at around £80m but Chelsea were able to remove £20m on their deal to sign Chilwell and believe a similar situation could occur in their talks with the hammers.

And West Ham manager David Moyes may be forced into selling before he signs any player this summer and there is limited interest in his team excepy Rice.

If Rice eventually signs for Chelsea, he will hope to learn from veteran defender Silva, who joined the Blues on a free transfer.

The 35-year-old defender, who had spent almost a decade at PSG before joining the blues, said: ‘I am so happy to be joining Chelsea.

‘I am delighted to be a part of Frank Lampard’s exciting squad. I’m here to challenge for honours and I look forward to playing at Stamford Bridge very soon.’
