Edinson Cavani is so determined to hit the ground running at Old Trafford that he asked Manchester United if he could make his debut in the club’s disappointing 6-1 defeat against Tottenham.
The Uruguayan forward is set to sign a two-year deal at the club and he was in Manchester this weekend to complete a medical.
His move was not completed in time for Cavani to play against Spurs and the striker must have been questioning his decision to sign for the club as they were completely demolished by Spurs.
But, The Times claim that Cavani asked to make his debut against Jose Mourinho’s side because he’s desperate to get going at the club.
The former Napoli forward is PSG’s record scorer but his exit was low-key after he fell out of favour under the club’s manager Thomas Tuchel.
According to reports, part of his determination to sign for United was that he could return to Paris when the two clubs take on one another in the Champions League group stages.
United are set to announce a deal for Porto full-back Alex Telles alongside the signing of Cavani. Telles will reportedly cost the club around £12m, with a further £3m in add-ons.

However, the two deals are unlikely to satisfy fans after the Red devils’ poor start to the campaign.
United have only three points from their first three games and they’ve been accused of making panic signings by moving to sign Cavani and Telles at such a late stage in the transfer window.
The club were hoping to sign Jadon Sancho from Dortmund but a deal looks dead with less than 24 hours left before the transfer window closes.
