Man Utd agree £27m deal to sign Amad Traore from Atalanta

Manchester United are looking to the future by agreeing a £27million deal to sign Amad Traore from Seria A side Atalanta.

The 18-year-old will move to Old Trafford at the start of 2021 when his work permit is cleared, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano.

Writing on Instagram, he posted: “[Atalanta forward] Papu Gomez told about him: ‘He’s a future star, trust me. During our training sessions he seems like Messi! You can’t stop him, he’s unbelievable, our centre backs have serious problems when Traoré is on the pitch… he’s fantastic!’”

Traore, who was born in Ivory Coast but moved to Italy at a very young age, he has played just three Serie A matches since graduating from the Atalanta academy.

However, United are believed to see him how Juventus see Dejan Kulusevski, the 20-year-old they signed from Atalanta in January for around £29m.

Traore was the first player born in 2002 to score in the Italian league when he scored seven minutes into his debut in 2019.

He also appears to be a huge fan of Paul Pogba and met the Frenchman when he was at Juventus, posting a picture of the duo them together in 2015. United were linked with a couple of wingers after failing to agree a deal for Jadon Sancho.

They have missed out on Ousmane Dembele as the player chose to stay at Barcelona. The Reds were interested in a loan move, while Barca wanted a £65m permanent deal for him.

Despite being used sparingly by new Barca manager Ronald Koeman, Dembele has decided to fight for his place in the team, according to reports in Spain.

The France international was not the only winger linked with a move to Old Trafford as an alternative to Sancho.
