David Luiz slams Elneny during Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Everton

David Luiz was furious with Mohamed Elneny on several occasions during their defeat to Everton on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s side are now without a win in six Premier League matches after they were beaten 2-1 at Goodison Park.

And the mood in Arsenal’s dressing room appears to have even hit a new low as players argued with each other during the clash.

David Luiz’s frustrations got the better of him after only 16 minutes as he berated Elneny after receiving a pass from the midfielder.

Luiz was standing in the left-back position and had signalled for Elneny to move forward with the ball but the player chose to play a sideways pass.

David Luiz, who had no immediate options ahead of him, was to play the ball back to Bernd Leno, and the former Chelsea star angrily gestured and shouted at Elneny.

And Arteta said after the match that Arsenal’s opening 45 minutes was poor. ‘I think in the first half, in the first phase, it was slow,’ said the Arsenal manager.

‘Whether it was because the players were a little bit restricted or because they don’t want to make a mistake or just because we felt that it was comfortable to do it.

‘But in the second half it was much better. We talked about it at half-time that the speed has to be much quicker, with the movement and the intention to attack the spaces and we did it much more efficiently but it wasn’t enough to score more goals.’

The defeat leaves Arsenal with only 14 points after 14 matches in the Premier League this campaign.
