Paul Pogba responds to talk of new Man Utd deal

Paul Pogba says he has not received any ‘concrete proposal’ from Manchester United as the club attempt to tie the player down to a new contract.

The France international has just one year left on his current deal at Old Trafford and will be free to negotiate with teams outside of the Premier League starting from January.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has repeatedly talked up a move away from the club in recent seasons but he enjoyed an impressive 2020-21 season under Solskjaer with the club targeting more improvement in the league and Champions League next campaign.

While reports suggest the Red devils have opened talks, the 28-year-old midfielder says he is unaware of any developments over his future at the club, with his focus fully on France’s European Championship campaign.

‘I have one year of my contract left. Everyone knows that,’ Pogba told a press conference on Thursday. ‘There is no concrete proposal (from United) yet.

‘I haven’t sat down with the directors and the manager, I am still in Manchester.

‘My thinking now is the Euros. I am focused. I have more experience than before, I am focused on the present and that is the Euros. I have an agent who takes care of all that.’

Meanwhile, According to ESPN, United fear Pogba will allow his contract to run down allowing him to leave for free next summer, with the club ready to initiate contract discussions soon in order to discover his true intentions.

Pogba went on to discuss Olivier Giroud’s perceived criticism of Kylian Mbappe after France’s 3-0 victory over Bulgaria this week.

Giroud seemed to criticise Mbappe for failing to provide him with enough service, telling reporters after the match: ‘Sometimes you make the runs and ball is not arriving. Perhaps we could have found each other better, there it is.’

But Pogba has dismissed the notion of any problem between both players. He said: ‘There are no tensions. The only tensions are in the back or the legs (laughs).

‘There is nothing that was said (in the press), it was perhaps transmitted poorly. I haven’t felt anything from what people say outside, it’s only about music, smiles and massages.’
