PSG are ready to let Neymar leave this summer

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to cash in on Brazil international Neymar this summer window.

L’Equipe reports that the French champions are ready to sell the Brazilian, after he made it clear to the club that he wants to leave the Parc des Princes.

Neymar only moved to France in 2017, joining in a £200million transfer from Barcelona – after Paris Saint-Germain paid his Camp Nou release clause.

But the 27-year-old has been linked with a transfer away from Ligue 1 ever since his arrival at the club.

Real Madrid were ready to do a deal last summer, after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit to Juventus  – but found PSG unwilling to release him.

Now Barcelona are being linked with their former star and a deal taking him back to Camp Nou which would shock world football.

Barca’s Champions League failure last season – falling apart against Liverpool in the semi-final at Anfield – has strengthened their resolve that they need to spend big again this transfer window if they’re to win Europe’s big competition.

Antoine Griezmann has looked the man most likely to move to Camp Nou – but that situation could now change, after PSG changed their stance.

New PSG sporting director Leonardo is pushing for a change of tone at the club and has promised summer changes.

And he is banking on Kylian Mbappe, the Frenchman, as the man to lead the club in the coming years, rather than Neymar.

President Nasser Al Khelaifi declared on Sunday that the club will no longer tolerate superstar attitudes from the club’s biggest players, after a 2018-19 season full of controversy.

“Players will have to be more responsible than before,” Al-Khelaifi told France Football. “It must be completely different.

“They will have to do more and work harder. They are not there for their own amusement. If they do not agree, the doors are open – Ciao!

“I do not want star behaviour anymore.”

It is definitely not a coincidence the timing of his comments and L’Equipe’s report.

However, a move will still depend on PSG recouping the majority of the money they paid to get Neymar from Barcelona.
