Jurgen Klopp has been hit with a injury problem ahead of Liverpool’s important Premier League game against Brighton on Sunday.
Liverpool need three points to guarantee Champions League football for next year. A defeat – and a win for Chelsea – would mean they would not make top four.
The Liverpool manager revealed that the Sadio Mane has been hit with another fitness issue ahead of the final league match of the season, although he didn’t mention if it will affect his chances of playing the Champions League final.
Asked if Mane would be fit for the clash against Brighton, Klopp said: ‘We will see. It is not the same injury. It’s a fresh problem.’
The German’s comments came after Mane’s lack of participation in training on Friday. He was able to warm up with the squad but didn’t play a full part in the training session.
There’s a 13-day gap between the game against Brighton and the final against Spain’s Real Madrid in Kiev on May 26 to allow the Senegal international to recover in time.
Klopp was hoping to have Can back in training this week but the results of a scan on his back was not conclusive.
The Germany international is losing his battle to be fit in time for the Champions League final against Real Madrid.
“I cannot and I don’t want to close the door on him,” Klopp said.

“Of course it would have been better if he had come back on Monday and said ‘all fine, let’s start’.
“That would have been three weeks [to the final]. Now there’s less time but we will see.”
