Barcelona have confirmed Antoine Griezmann has suffered a muscle injury and is set to miss the rest of their La Liga season.
The 29-year-old started for Barcelona as they beat Real Valladolid 1-0 on Saturday, but he had to be taken off at half-time, with Luis Suarez coming on to replace him.
Barca are just one point behind league leaders Real Madrid – who have a game in hand – in the title race, but could now be without the Frenchman for their last two games.
Griezmann had to undergo scans on his right leg which revealed he had suffered an injury and the club are unsure how long he will be out of football action.
“Tests this morning have shown that first-team player Antoine Griezmann has a muscle injury in the quadriceps of his right leg,” a statement on the club’s website confirmed.
“He is therefore not available for selection at the present time and the evolution of the injury will condition his availability.”
Barcelona have won four of the last five La Liga trophies, but will finish second if Real Madrid can get victories in at least two of their final three games.

Barca will now hope to have Antoine Griezmann available for their Champions League second leg game against Seria A side Napoli next month.
Griezmann signed for Barcelona for a fee of around £108m last summer, but has struggled during his debut campaign at the Nou Camp, scoring only 15 goals in 46 matches.
