Tottenham head coach Jose Mourinho aimed another swipe at Manchester United and Bruno Fernandes over the number of penalties they have gotten this campaign.
United secured a place in the top four thanks to a 2-0 win over Leicester City, with the deadlock of the match once again broken by a penalty – their 14th of the campaign, which is a new Premier League record.
But, there was no controversy about their final penalty with Anthony Martial clearly brought down when through on goal against the Foxes and Fernandes stepped up to score.
Bruno Fernandes has scored eight goals and provided another seven assists in just 14 Premier League matches, and he has won the Player of the Month award twice.
Jose Mourinho reached Lisbon on Wednesday for a break back in Portugal and was asked about Fernandes’ performances, though he could not resist having a little dig at the midfielder.
Speaking to Portuguese newspaper Record at the airport, Jose Mourinho said: ‘Bruno came in, he was fit, played very well and improved the United team.
‘He also proved to be a great penalty taker, one of the best in the world, because he had about 20 to score!’

And this is not the first time he has aimed a swipe at the Portuguese midfielder and United, with Solskjaer’s side having scored a penalty against Tottenham.
The referee even pointed to the spot for a second time in the game, though the decision was overturned, and when Mourinho was asked that Fernandes had run into Eric Dier for the second penalty, he said: ‘Fernandes comes from a country that I know well.’
He added: ‘The second one was incredible for me. If VAR goes for simulation, the players could be exposed and given a yellow card.’
The Red devils broke Crystal Palace’s 15-year record for the most penalties in a single Premier League season when Fernandes scored the club’s 14th of the campaign against Leicester City.
