Barcelona could be without Ansu Fati for the next three months after he injured his knee in Saturday’s 5-2 victory over Real Betis, according to reports.
Fati, 18, was substituted at half-time against Betis and the La Liga giants have since confirmed that “he has an internal meniscus tear in his left knee.”
According to reports, it is still too early to tell how serious the injury is but the club are hopeful they will only be without Fati for around four and eight weeks.
Barcelona must wait for the swelling to reduce in the coming days before deciding on a course of treatment for the Spanish star. He could be out for up to three months if a surgery is required.
The injury rules him out of Spain’s upcoming matches this month against Switzerland, Netherlands and Germany after he was named in the squad this week.
Meanwhile, if Fati doesn’t play again until the New Year, he could miss up to 10 Barca matches, which includes the trip to Atletico Madrid straight after the international break.
Fati picked up the injury after he was fouled by Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi in an incident that drew a penalty. He remained on the pitch only for 15 minutes after the challenge – despite needing lengthy treatment at the time -vbefore being replaced by Lionel Messi.

Ansu has already scored five goals in 10 matches this campaign for Barcelona and has also registered a further two assists.
Without him, Barca enjoyed a 5-2 win over Real Betis to end a four-game winless run in the League. Messi scored a brace, with Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann – who missed a penalty – and Pedri also on target in the match.
