David Moyes admits he regrets leaving Everton for Man Utd

Former Everton head coach David Moyes has revealed that he will always regret leaving Goodison Park for Manchester United.

After 11 years at the club, during which he earned much praise for his work at Everton, Moyes was appointed as Manchester United coach in 2013 as the successor to the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 56-year-old told Richard Keys and Andy Gray that he doesn’t regret becoming the Red devils manager but does wish that he could have stayed at Everton much longer.

Speaking on The Keys and Gray Show on beIN SPORTS, David Moyes said: ‘I think I’ll always look back and regret leaving Everton because of the team and the players I had built at that time.

‘But I’ll never be regretful for joining Manchester United or doing what I’ve done.

‘I think in football we all make decisions – Andy will tell you as much as anything – some work for you, some don’t work for you.

‘I think on the journey of being a football player or football manager you’re never always going to have good times. You’re always at times going to have ups and downs.’

During his time at Everton, Moyes signed players such as Tim Cahill and also helped the club to the semi-finals of the FA Cup in 2009.

Though, Moyes is still managing a Premier League side, with West Ham, and the club have won just three matches out of 12 in his current stint, but Moyes believes they are heading in the right direction.

He said: ‘I’ve got to say at the moment I’m really enjoying my time back at West Ham. I think that we’ve started positively enough.

‘I think that we’ve shown a lot of good signs. A couple of good signings in January have given us that opportunity to improve.’
