Alf-Inge Haaland, the father of Dortmund forward Erling and former Manchester City captain, has voiced his frustrations after it emerged that Jadon Sancho’s move for Manchester United is close to completion.
The Red devils have agreed a £73m fee with Dortmund as Sancho is expected to sign a five-year contract in the coming days, after previously agreeing personal terms with the Premier League giants.
The England international is expected to undergo a medical before being announced officially as a United player by the end of the week.
The 21-year-old attacker will be returning to England after four years with the Bundesliga side where he established himself as one of Europe’s best wingers in recent years.
Sancho formed a formidable Dortmund partnership with Erling Haaland, who continues to be linked with a move to a number of Europe’s top sides, including both Manchester teams who are admirers of the player.
And Haaland’s father, who donned City shirt for three years and also represented Leeds, took to Twitter to voice his frustration at seeing Sancho leave — while also wishing him the best ahead of his arrival at Old Trafford.
“But all the best Jadon Sancho. You will be missed”, Haaland Snr posted on his Twitter page in reply to the Sancho transfer news.

His tweet makes for interesting reading as many supporters took it to mean his son will still be staying at Dortmund next season.
The Norwegian star currently has a release clause in his contract between £64.5m and £86m that can be triggered in the summer of 2022, price many will be willing to pay given Haaland’s goal record.
