Man United to take Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid

Manchester United are set to launch a bid to land Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid are desperately trying to offload the Welsh star after boss Zinedine Zidane made it clear that Bale has no future at the club. But there have been no offers so far — with both Man United and Tottenham rejecting Madrid’s invitation to make a £75million bid.

United, however, are prepared to bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford on a season-long loan with an option to extend it by a further 12 months.

And United are also willing to pay a loan fee to further tempt the fallen Real Madrid, who finished just third this campaign— a massive 19 points behind bitter rivals Barcelona.

Zidane has already signed Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and is trying to force the former Southampton starlet out of the club as he looks to rebuild. But Bale is refusing to budge – and it remains to be seen whether he would be willing to move to Old Trafford.

United have been long-time admirers of Gareth Bale but are not interested in helping Real Madrid recoup most of the £90m they paid to sign him years ago.

Bale has won four Champions League and the La Liga during his time in Spain, but has also suffered a series of injuries and United’s willingness to spend big on bringing him back to England has dimmed.

However, Manchester United are desperate to make a big-name signing to excite their supporters — and the Welshman fits exactly what they want perfectly.

Bale still has three years left on his deal at the club – which includes bonuses – but the package would give him parity with the club’s highest earner, Alexis Sanchez.

United have already agreed a £15m deal to sign Swansea’s Daniel James but bringing in countryman Bale would be a big statement of intent for a club now on its fourth head coach in the six Premier League title-less years since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
