Manchester United are currently monitoring the situation regarding Alex Telles, after reports emerged that he had tested positive for coronavirus while away on international duty.
Alex Telles came off the bench to play in Brazil’s 1-0 victory over Venezuela, but he is a doubt for the second game against Uruguay on Tuesday after producing a positive Coronavirus test.
The Brazilian federation said the defender would undergo a second test before a decision will be made on whether he can travel with the team to Montevideo.
Telles tested negative prior to travelling to South America for the international duty, but is now in isolation ahead of a second test before tomorrow’s game.
United are aware of the new developments and issued a statement to clarify their position on the player.

The statement from Manchester United read: “The club is checking on the situation regarding Alex Telles and will assess the defender upon his return to Manchester from international duty later this week.
“Reports in Brazil have suggested Telles has tested positive for Covid-19 for a second time and could therefore miss his nation’s match against Uruguay in Montevideo on Tuesday night.
“However, it is understood Alex’s positive test does not necessarily mean he has contracted the virus again.”
